Contaminated Land Strategy (2016)
Purpose of Report: Local Authorities have a statutory duty to
implement and enforce contaminated land legislation (Part 2A of the
Environmental Protection Act 1990) in order to protect human health
and the environment, and we are required to outline our approach in
a written strategy.
City of York Council’s first contaminated land strategy was
published in July 2001 with subsequent updates in 2005, 2010 and
2016. This 2016 version incorporates recent changes in legislation
and guidance and provides an update on progress made to date.
The Executive Member for the Environment is asked to approve the
adoption and publication of the updated contaminated land
strategy.
