To approve and sign the minutes of the meeting held on 26 March 2014.

Minutes:

Resolved:  That the minutes of the Decision Session held on 26 March 2014 be confirmed and signed as a correct record.

Public Participation

At this point in the meeting members of the public who have registered their wish to speak regarding an item on the agenda or an issue within the Committee’s remit can do so.  The deadline for registering is 5:00 pm on Tuesday 17 March 2015.

It was reported that there had been no registrations to speak at the meeting under the Council’s Public Participation Scheme.

Coordinated Admissions Schemes and Admission Arrangements, including Planned Admission Numbers, for the 2016/17 School Year pdf icon PDF 226 KB

This report seeks approval for the City of York Council coordinated schemes and admissions policies for primary, junior and secondary schools for the 2016/17 school year.  It also seeks approval of the proposed school planned admission numbers for each City of York Council school for the school year beginning in September 2016.

Resolved:  (i)      That the proposed individual school planned

admission numbers for the academic year beginning in September 2016, as set out in Annex A of the report, be approved.

 

(ii)      That the coordinated schemes and admissions

policies for all City of York Council schools for the 2016/17 school year, as set out in Annexes B-G and W-Y of the report, be approved.

 

Reason:     To meet the statutory requirements of the School Admissions Code of Practice.

 

 

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member considered a report which sought approval for the City of York Council coordinated schemes and admissions policies for primary, junior and secondary schools for the 2016/17 school year.  The report also sought approval of the proposed school planned admission numbers for each City of York Council school for the school year beginning in September 2016.

 

The Cabinet Member noted that the consultation that had taken place had exceeded the statutory requirements.

 

Officers drew attention to paragraphs 14 and 15 of the report which detailed the general principles that should apply when considering changes to planned admission numbers.

 

The Cabinet Member gave consideration to paragraph 16 of the report which recommended changes to the planned admission numbers for the following schools:

·        The Joseph Rowntree School

·        Fulford Secondary School

·        St Barnabas’ CE Primary School

·        St Mary’s CE Primary School

·        St Oswald’s CE Primary School

 

Officers gave details of the analysis that had taken place regarding the proposed changes, as outlined in the report.

 

The Cabinet Member noted the proposed changes in planned admission number for the Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy and the Manor CE Academy.

 

Resolved:  (i)      That the proposed individual school planned

admission numbers for the academic year beginning in September 2016, as set out in Annex A of the report, be approved.

 

(ii)      That the coordinated schemes and admissions

policies for all City of York Council schools for the 2016/17 school year, as set out in Annexes B-G and W-Y of the report, be approved.

 

Reason:     To meet the statutory requirements of the School Admissions Code of Practice.
