Resolved:  That Councillor Wells be elected to Chair the meeting.

To consider excluding the public and press from the meeting during consideration of agenda item 5 on the grounds that it contains information relating to an individual and which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual. This information is classed as exempt under Paragraphs 1 & 2 of Schedule 12A to Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended by the Local Government (Access to information) (Variation) Order 2006.

Resolved:  That the minutes of the meeting held on 23 November 2016 be approved as a correct record and then signed by the Chair.

Home to School Transport Appeal

To consider an appeal for assistance with home to school transport to Fulford School.

Members considered an appeal from parents regarding the Local Authority’s decision not to provide free home to school transport to Fulford School.

 

The parent had been invited to attend the meeting but had forwarded apologies for absence.

 

Resolved:  (i)      That the appeal for assistance with home to

                             school transport not be upheld.

 

                   (ii)      That it be suggested to the parent that they

explore the possibility of purchasing a YOzone card to reduce the travel costs, and advised of their right to reapply for assistance should there be a change in their financial circumstances.

 

Reasons:   (i)      There were no exceptional circumstances in this

                             case to deviate from the policy.

 

                   (ii)      To seek to support the parent, taking into

                             consideration the information provided on their                          appeal form.
