York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority
Description
The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority was created in December 2023 by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority Order 2023. The creation of the Combined Authority followed several years of negotiation between Government and Local Authority Leaders, leading to the York and North Yorkshire Devolution announced on 1 August 2022. A period of public consultation took place in late 2022 on the proposed ‘scheme’ for the Combined Authority, setting out its intended governance arrangements and how it would deliver the commitments made in the Devolution Deal. The Combined Authority will be made up of the Mayor, two members of each constituent authority, and the Chair of the Business Committee (non-voting).
