Consultation process
The removal of residents parking bays on Queen
Street was originally proposed to be removed at the planning stage
and then lead to an amendment to the TRO, this proposal did not
include the taxi rank on Queen Street.
The residents of Queen Street have been in contact with the council
throughout the development process and have raised concerns about
access to their properties. The Council undertook initial
consultation with the residents, who were asked to respond to a
poll to see what would be of benefit to them if there was a change
to the taxi rank and a traffic survey on the taxi usage of the
Queen Street rank was conducted on the 7th of February 2025 for 72
hours. This was carried out by an
independent third-party Matrix Traffic and Transport Data. Once we
had the results of both, a proposal was progressed to create two
resident parking spaces for use by residents with a R15SC residents
parking permit.
The proposal of a taxi rank on Blossom Street has involved
consultation with all businesses in proximity. After taking into
consideration the businesses concerns, we have changed the proposal
of a 24-hour operational rank to an evening only rank after
6pm.
