City Centre Sustainable Transport Corridor
The report presents the Project Initiation
Document for the City Centre Sustainable Transport Corridor and
requests approval to proceed to public consultation. The Executive
Member will be asked to
i) Recommendation One: Approve the Project Initiation Document at
Annex A.
ii) Reason: To confirm the core objectives of the project and the
parameters and scope to which officers will deliver the project
to.
iii) Recommendation Two: Agree to publicly consult on a series of
potential measures to reduce bus journey times, improve bus
reliability on the Rougier Street – Micklegate – Tower
Street corridor and to improve infrastructure for pedestrians,
wheelchair users, people who use mobility aids and cyclists.
iv) Reason: To ensure the views of the public and stakeholders
inform the final project design.
v) Recommendation Three; Delegate authority to the Director of
Environment, Transport and Planning to finalise details of the
design to form the basis of the public consultation.
vi) Reason; To allow outline design work to be completed ahead of
public consultation.

Engagement is being undertaken with the bus
operators, conversations have been undertaken with key
stakeholders. The work has been undertaken in response to extensive
public feedback to the Local Transport Strategy consultation.

transport in the city.
