The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee Inquiry into Permitted Development Rights
Purpose of Report: The Housing, Communities and Local Government
Committee has launched a new inquiry to examine the
Government’s approach to permitted development rights.

The report outlines what the committee has invited submissions on
which includes specific reference to permitted development in
respect of large-scale development, commercial-to-residential
conversions and changes of use between different types of
commercial and retail premises. The report will then outline
Planning Services response to the inquiry points.
The Executive Member will be asked to:
i. Note the content of this report;
and
ii. Delegate to the Director for Environment, Transport and
Planning to submit evidence to the Housing, Communities and Local
Government Committee Inquiry into Permitted Development Rights.
It has not been possible to give 28 days’ notice of the intention to make this decision as the deadline for submissions is Friday 30 April 2021 and was only launched on 23 March 2021.
