University Road Cycle Route & Crossing Improvement Scheme

Purpose of Report: To outline the proposals to create an off-road shared use pedestrian/cycle route alongside University Road between Green Dykes Lane and Innovation Way. The proposals also include crossing improvement proposals and bus stop relocation in the vicinity of Market Square, which incorporates a 20mph Zone with speed table crossing points. This work is to be co-ordinated with work to be carried out by the University of York to provide additional access facilities to Morrell Library.

The Cabinet Member is asked to give in-principle approval to implement the proposals. Give authorisation to consult on the preferred option, and authorise the 20 mph Traffic Regulation Order linked with the crossing improvement proposals.
