Civil Partnerships in Religious Buildings
Purpose of Report: To inform the Cabinet
Member about the Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved
Premises) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 which allow civil
partnerships to take place in religious buildings. The Cabinet
Member is asked to approve the fee payable by religious premises
for a licence to host civil partnership ceremonies. The Cabinet
Member is asked to note the report and set a fee to encourage
religious premises to host civil partnership ceremonies.
This decision has been delayed due to a change in portfolio holder
and will now be made in June 2013.
