Establishment of the Integrated Family Service Incorporating the Troubled Families initiative

Purpose of Report: The report will describe the development of an Integrated Family Service for the City. This service, which will incorporate York’s response to the government’s Troubled Families initiative, will provide early help and support to families across the City. The report will explain how this service will work with schools and other agencies as part of a wider early intervention approach that prevents family problems from escalating.

The Cabinet Member will be asked to approve the establishment of the new integrated service.

Consultation process

There has been extensive consultation to date including presentations to a variety of multi agency strategic partnerships across the City, workshops with key staff affected, online mailbox arrangements and a regularly updated Frequently Asked Questions publication.

There is also a representative from Unison on the project steering group.

Consultees

This new service brings together a range of existing teams and professionals into one integrated service. There has been extensive consultation with those staff ‘in scope’ of this new service and other agencies in the City including, schools, health services, the Police and with colleagues in the private and voluntary sector.

The consultation process is ongoing. Consultation with those families likely to benefit from the new service is planned.
