Establishment of Looked After Children’s Support Service
Purpose of
Report: The report will set out the plans to develop a new Looked
After Children’s Support Service. This new service will
facilitate supervised contact between children who are looked after
and their parents. The service will operate from a single venue and
provide professional oversight and assessment of all contact
arrangements.
Members will be asked to approve the establishment of the service
and financial implications of its establishment.

A process of extensive consultation is
underway. The consultation includes workshops with those existing
staff who are ‘in scope’ of this development. Direct
consultation via an online mailbox is available and a regularly
updated Frequently Asked Questions document is published.

network of children's agencies in York.
Consultation with colleagues from the Child and Family Court
Advisory Service is planned and this feedback will be included in
the report.
