Dementia Strategy and Action Plan

Purpose of Report: The national dementia strategy sets out key objectives which when implemented, should result in a significant improvement in the quality of services and promote a greater understanding of the causes and consequences of dementia. This paper introduces the joint strategy developed by NHS North Yorkshire and York and a local action plan to deliver the priorities for York in respect of the strategy.
The Cabinet Member is asked to approve the Joint North Yorkshire and York Dementia Strategy, and an Action Plan for Adult Social Care. Sign up to the Dementia Declaration.

Consultation process

The national strategy was developed following extensive consultation with a wide range of stakeholders. The North Yorkshire and York Strategy used information from Overview and Scrutiny Committee reviews in both North Yorkshire and York, and undertook local mapping exercises involving a wide range of key stakeholders. The York Dementia Working Group has involved a wide range of stakeholders.
