A Council 'Pledge' to Looked After Children in York Developed by the Show Me That I Matter Panel
Purpose of report: This report will present
the work of York’s Children in Care Council – known as
the - Show Me That I Matter Panel, to develop a Council Pledge to
Looked After Children. The Pledge describes a series of
undertakings by the Council about the nature and quality of care
Looked After Children in York can expect. The report will also set
out how York’s Strategic Partnership for Looked After
Children will ensure that the Pledge is delivered and monitored.
The Executive Member is asked
to: Agree a Council Pledge to Looked After Children.
Note: This report has been deferred to the January meeting to
enable the Pledge to be developed in a variety of media forms to
ensue that it is accessible and widely promoted to all Looked After
Children/Young People

young people were facilitated and supported by the University of
York.
Workshops with the junior Children in Care Council – I Matter
Too
Attendance by key agency representatives at the Show Me That I
Matter Panel to answer questions and discuss elements of the
proposed Pledge.
Presentation to York’s Multi Agency Strategic Partnership
(including representatives from Health, Education, Children’s
Social Care, Housing, the Youth Offending Team and foster carers)
by members of the Show Me That I Matter Panel.
