Approval of the amalgamation of Our Lady's RC Primary School and English Martyrs' RC Primary School

Purpose of report: The report will request Members to approve the amalgamation of Our Lady's RC Primary School and English Martyrs' RC Primary School. This approval is required as part of the formal amalgamation procedure laid down by the DCSF. This approval is required before construction work can start on site, which is due to commence in August 2010.

The amalgamation of the two schools is part of York's Primary Capital Programme, with a new build school being built on the English Martyrs' site. The new school is expected to open in September 2011.

Members are asked to: Approve the amalgamation of Our Lady's RC Primary School and English Martyrs' RC Primary School. This approval is required as part of the formal amalgamation procedure laid down by the DCSF and is required before construction work can start on site. This is due to commence in August 2010.
