School Meal Tender Process - Selection of a preferred supplier

Purpose of report: If members agree with the officers’ decisions, all schools that have stated that they wish to be involved in the tender will be affected as this will decide which supplier is to provide catering to these schools until at least 2015. If a different supplier is selected to the current incumbent supplier there will be TUPE issues to resolve before the contract commences in September 2010. The intention is that the new supplier will be providing school meals from September 2010.  Due to the lead in time with the new supplier a decision, at this EXEC, needs to be made as to which supplier is selected to provide school meals from September 2010. The resulting effects will be seen by the pupils in September 2010. CYC, school staff, and, if applicable, any staff that are involved in TUPE will see the effects earlier as the selected supplier will be required to start implementing the contract before the start of the contract in September 2010.

Members are asked to: Review the evaluation outcome of the school meal tender and then make a decision as to the preferred supplier to award the contract to.
