Outline proposals for the redesign of temporary accommodation at Ordnance Lane

Purpose of report: No one will be immediately affected as this report is asking members to give and in principle endorsement to officers applying to the Hostel Capital Improvement programme for funding to create a place of change/foyer scheme on the Ordnance Lane side along with general needs temporary accommodation for families.

Timescale: The bid to Government Office needs to be submitted by 25/1/2008. Decision from Government Office expected in March 2008.

Members are asked to: Endorse the decision to apply to Communities and Local Government for capital funding to demolish the existing hostel at Ordnance Lane and replace with resettlement accommodation for young people in the form of Foyer schem/Places of Change. It will also identify the need to replace the existing provison of temporary accommodation for families.
