Strategic Housing Market Assessment

Purpose of report: To inform members of the key findings from the York Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) 2007. The SHMA will be used as an evidence base to inform the development of future housing and planning policies

Members are asked to: note the contents of the report and provide initial comments. More detailed comment will be sought as and when policy recommendations arising from the SHMA are developed and presented for member consideration.

Timescale: The SHMA was presented to Planning Committee on 27 September 2007 with the recommendation to endorse the use of the study for development control purposes in terms of agreeing the most appropriate housing tenure, size and type on individual sites.
