Tackle Anti-social Behaviour Issues in Heslington

We the undersigned petition the council to We the undersigned request the Council petition and work with the Police to take immediate action to address anti-social behaviour issues in Heslington.

This petition is raised by the Parish Council on behalf of the worried residents of Heslington. Our peaceful village, a cherished community that we all call home, is increasingly being overshadowed by a rise in anti-social behaviour. An alarming increase in incidents have been noted involving youths on bicycles who are intimidating and verbally abusing our villagers.

The North Yorkshire Police’s July 2026 Parish Council report for Heslington recorded 19 incidents reported to the Police including ASB, thefts and criminal damage. Although these incidents were mainly on University land, residents have reported many more un-recorded incidents to the Parish Council. Where residents have been collecting their own data this will be attached to the final petition sent to the council. Many of these incidents were reported to the Police at their recent community drop-in on Main Street.
