Co-ordinated Admission Arrangements and Admission Limits for Primary, Junior and Secondary Schools in York from September 2015

This report seeks approval for City of York Council co-ordinated schemes and admissions policies for primary, junior and secondary schools for the 2015/16 academic year.  It also seeks approval of the proposed individual school planned admission numbers for the academic year beginning in September 2015.

Decision:

Resolved:  (i)      That the City of York coordinated schemes and

admissions policies for primary and secondary schools for the 2015/16 academic year, as set out in Annexes B-E and Q-S of the report, be approved.

 

(ii)      That the proposed individual school maximum admission limits for the academic year beginning in September 2015, as set out in Annex A of the report, be approved.

 

Reason:     To meet the statutory requirements of the School Admissions Code of Practice.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member considered a report that sought approval for the City of York Council coordinated schemes and admissions policies for primary, junior and secondary schools for the 2015/16 academic year.  It also sought approval of the proposed individual school planned admission numbers for the academic year beginning in September 2015.

 

At the request of the Cabinet Member, officers detailed the reasons for proposed increases in the admission limits for the schools listed in paragraph 13 of the report. They confirmed that school place planning was carried out on an area wide basis and took into account factors such as proposed building development.

 

The Cabinet Member noted the objection that had been received regarding the proposed increase at Clifton Green Primary School.  Officers gave details of predicted pupil numbers in the area, including the projected numbers at neighbouring schools.    

 

Resolved:  (i)      That the City of York coordinated schemes and

admissions policies for primary and secondary schools for the 2015/16 academic year, as set out in Annexes B-E and Q-S of the report, be approved.

 

(ii)      That the proposed individual school maximum admission limits for the academic year beginning in September 2015, as set out in Annex A of the report, be approved.

 

Reason:     To meet the statutory requirements of the School

                   Admissions Code of Practice.
