Local Improvement Schemes

The list of proposed Local Improvement Schemes will be discussed. This is your chance to influence the decision on how the budget for 2011/2012 will be spent.

Minutes:

The list of proposed schemes is based on estimated budget. If the 2011 – 2012 budget is reduced then some of the schemes may not be going ahead, or all of the proposed schemes will receive a reduced percentage of funding.

Residents were given opportunity to raise questions regarding the proposed schemes.

Q – What will be the cost for installing a salt bin on Chudleigh Road?

A – A new salt bin allocation cost is around £285 and each refill cost £50. We need to check the exact cost for 1-ton salt bag, as these aren’t funded by the ward committee.

Q  - Could we have small salt bags on each end of the road?

A – Salt bags are only located at the certain distance from the nearest salt bin. After the ‘salt bin review’ in 2007 highways removed some salt bins. Now the ward committee are facing a significant problem in some areas where the distances between salt bins are too far. If you have specific request for the salt bin location please forward it to us, as we are making the final decisions where they will be located.

Q – Where is the nearest salt bin to Wilton Rise?

A – The nearest one is on Hamilton Drive, which is quite far away. We will look if we can get salt bag to be dropped on Wilton Rise.

At this point representative from Safe and Sound Homes thanked to everyone for supporting the scheme. Safe and Sound Homes have applied for grant in 6 wards across York. Grants received so far will enable the organisation to provide their services through next year.

Q – Will skips be included on the scheme list?

A – There were no suggestions from residents for skips for year 2011 – 2012.
