Heworth Ward Committee hosted an informal surgery style meeting in Glen Gardens on the theme of healthy living. Residents were able to:

• Speak directly to their local councillors and representatives from the Neighbourhood Management Unit.
• Contribute to the ward committees consultations on the Hull Road Park fitness trail, Glen Gardens Play Equipment and River Foss improvements.
• Submit scheme proposals for the 2010/11 ward committee budget
• Speak to the Heworth Safer Neighbourhoods Team
• Learn about Roman cookery through demonstrations by Yorkshire Museum
• Find out more about City of York Council’s Core Strategy consultation
• Visit an occupational health advisor to find out about their blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
• Find out more about the Council’s Cycle City plans for the ward
• Visit Glen Allotments and find out more about growing your own vegetables
• Speak with representatives from North Yorkshire Credit Union and the Salvation Army
• Meet the children from the Tang Hall Chill-out Zone

There was also an opportunity for residents to submit comments and questions through a Have Your Say board. Comments received were:

• East Parade drain needs doing before resurfacing

• Dodsworth Avenue – Bikes on paths – education campaign

• Dodsworth Avenue – Speeding, motorists/bikers 40mph+
