Informal drop-in event at St Mary's Abbey, Museum Gardens

This is an informal ward committee event with a range of activities for young and old.

 

The Street Sport team will be there with the 7m climbing wall and there will be demonstrations of Roman cookery and crafts from York Museums Trust.

 

There will be an opportunity to talk to your local councillors, the Safer Neighbourhoods Team, the Street Environment Officer, the Waste Strategy Team and your Neighbourhood Management Officer.

 

3.00pm – 3.30pm

Tour of the Museum Gardens showing where areas have been cleared, new planting and the fern garden

 

3.30pm – 5.30pm

Roman cookery tasting and crafts (near St Mary’s Abbey). Original artefacts for people to handle.

Minutes:

This was an informal meeting on the bowling green behind St Mary’s Abbey in the Museum Gardens. As well as the opportunity to have a guided tour around the gardens the climbing wall was on the green which was used by several young people.

 

The Museums Trust also gave a demonstration of Roman cookery and hairdressing. The Safer neighbourhood Team, Street Environment Officer and Neighbourhood Management Unit were on-hand to give advice or information as well as encouraging residents to complete ward scheme suggestion forms.
