The Drop-in Event was attended by 23 people. It was opened by Cllr. Ian Gillies who welcomed people to the event. The minutes were available and they were approved. There were displays and consultation with Waste Strategy, Young Peoples’ Service, some of the Parish Councils, The Copmanthorpe Bring Your Bag Group, Neighbourhood Management Team, Road Safety training, York Rotters and the Safer Neighbourhood Team. 10 People had their bikes security-tagged and the remaining cycle tags were taken by the Safer Neighbourhood Team to use at the Copmanthorpe Carnival.

There was some consultation with people about how they would like their ward to develop. The young people who completed the consultation asked for; A basketball court, a BMX bike track with jumps (two young people asked for this) and for another play park in Poppleton. Some of the responses from other people were; Tackle speeding, increase community safety, stop people using Poppleton as a short-cut form the A59, improve access for ambulances and fire engines into Westfield Close and improve the state of Poppleton – the neighbourhood, the roads, paths, houses etc.

The ward committee had some ‘freebies’ to give away, these included; Low energy light bulbs, solar battery chargers, rechargeable batteries, jute bags, pencils and security marking kits.

Cllr. Ian Gillies thanked residents for attending and closed the meeting at 8.15pm.
