On board the bus there will be the Safer Neighbourhood Team, your Ward Councillors, Planning Panel Members, Street Environment Officer, a Youth Service Representative and your Neighbourhood Management Officer. We will have a Free security marking kit and personal alarms to give away.

The ward committee meeting took the form of a tour of the ward by double decker bus with stops so that people from around the ward didn’t have to go far to get involved and have their say.

The itinerary of the bus was;

4.00pm            Crichton Avenue

4.50pm            Junction of Burton Green and Burton Stone Lane

5.20pm            The bus stop near Avenue Terrace

5.50pm            Haxby Road/Rose Street

6.20pm            Grosvenor Road.

At each stop several residents came to the bus to speak to their councillors, the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Planning Panel Members, Street Environment Officer and Young People’s Service officer.

More than 35 security marking kits were given out and about 20 personal alarms as well as hundreds of dog-mess bags.

At each stop officers made themselves available outside the bus.

Several residents brought their suggestions for the 09/10 budget. They also told their issues to the officers, some of the issues were; dog fouling, hedges, alleygating, school crossing patrols and street lighting. All information has been passed on to the relevant departments.

All-in-all it was a successful event. We even saw a PCSO in action as they spoke to someone about cycling on the pavement!
