Freedom of the City Councillor Alexander will move the following motion:
“That, pursuant to its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, Council do confer the Freedom of Entry to the City of York upon the following York Normandy Veterans:

Councillor Gillies will second the motion.
The motion will be put. Minutes: The Lord Mayor declared the object of the meeting, under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, which was to confer the Freedom of the City upon the York Normandy Veterans.
It was then moved by Cllr Alexander and seconded by Cllr Gillies:
“That, pursuant to its powers under Section 279(i) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer the Freedom of the City of York upon:
Albert Barritt Kenneth Bell William Carter Gordon Collinson Kenneth Basil Cooke Tom Dixon Douglas Haw Cyril Bernard Haworth Dennis James Haydock Frank Lodge George Meredith Roy Rowbotham Kenneth William Smith George William Witty Arthur Wragg
in formal recognition of the eminent service that they have rendered to the City.”
The motion was then put to the vote and declared CARRIED unanimously and it was
