Object of the Meeting

Minutes:

The Lord Mayor declared the object of the meeting, under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972. which was to confer the status of Honorary Freeman upon Mr Peter Gibson OBE and to confer the Freedom of Entry to the City upon the Yorkshire Squadron of the Queen’s Own Yeomanry.

Honorary Freeman

Councillor Waller will move the following motion:

 

“That pursuant to its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer the title of Honorary Freeman of the City of York upon:

 

Mr Peter Gibson OBE – in formal recognition of his contribution to the history, conservation and tourism of York.

 

Councillor Scott will second the motion.

 

The motion will be put.

Minutes:

It was moved by Cllr Waller and seconded by Cllr Scott:

 

“That, pursuant to its powers under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer the title of Honorary Freeman of the City of York upon:

 

Mr Peter Gibson OBE, in recognition of his contribution to the history, conservation and tourism of York.

 

The motion was put to the vote and declared CARRIED unanimously and it was

 

RESOLVED:            That the above motion be approved.

Freedom of Entry to the City

The Lord Mayor will move the following motion:

 

“That pursuant to its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer the Freedom of Entry to the City of York upon:

 

The Yorkshire Squadron of the Queen’s Own Yeomanry.”

 

Councillor Waller will second the motion.

 

The motion will be put.

It was moved by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Galvin, and seconded by Cllr Waller:

 

“That, pursuant to its powers under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer the Freedom of Entry to the City of York upon:

 

The Yorkshire Squadron of the Queen’s Own Yeomanry, in recognition of its long and illustrious history and association with the City of York.

 

The motion was put to the vote and declared CARRIED unanimously and it was

 

RESOLVED:            That the above motion be approved.
