Resolved:  That Councillor Wells be appointed to Chair the meeting.

Exclusion of Press and Public

To consider excluding the public and press from the meeting during consideration of agenda items  5 and 6 on the grounds that they contain information relating to individuals and which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual. This information is classed as exempt under Paragraphs 1 & 2 of Schedule 12A to Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended by the Local Government (Access to information) (Variation) Order 2006.

Home to School Transport Appeal

To consider an appeal for assistance with home to school transport to Acomb Primary School for the Summer Term 2016.

Members considered an appeal from parents regarding the Local Authority’s decision not to provide free home to school transport to Acomb Primary School for the Summer Term 2016.

 

The parents had forwarded their apologies for absence.

 

Resolved:  That the appeal not be upheld.

 

Reason:     There were now no exceptional circumstances in this case to deviate from normal policy.

Home to School Transport Appeal

To consider an appeal for the continuation of home to school transport to St Oswald’s Primary School.

Members considered an appeal from parents regarding the Local Authority’s decision not to provide free home to school transport to St Oswald’s Primary School on a permanent basis.

 

The parents were in attendance.

 

Resolved:  (i)      That the appeal not be upheld.

 

(ii)      That the Local Authority be requested to explore the suggestions put forward by the Panel to assist the family, as detailed in the decision letter to the parent.

 

Reason:     There were no exceptional circumstances in this case to deviate from normal policy.
