This report provides information about the current position with regard to vacancies for Local Authority seats on governing bodies, lists current nominations for these vacancies and requests the appointment, or reappointment, of the listed nominees.

RESOLVED:       That the appointment or re-appointment of Local

Governors, as proposed in Annexes 1 and 2 of the report, be approved.

 

REASON:            To ensure that Local Authority places on school governing bodies continue to be effectively filled.

 

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member considered a report that provided information about the current position with regard to vacancies for Local Authority seats on Governing Bodies, listed current nominations for those vacancies, as detailed in Annexes 1 and 2 of the report, and requested the appointment, or re-appointment, of the listed nominees.

 

The Cabinet Member was pleased to note that the vacancy level for Local Authority governors was only 1.7%.  She requested that details be forwarded to her of those vacancies for which there were no applicants1.

 

The Cabinet Member was informed that the results of regional and national benchmarking confirmed that the Governance Service performed very highly in terms of low vacancy rates for LA and other governors, and in the take-up of governor training.  She expressed her appreciation of these achievements and suggested that it would be useful for the work of the Governance Service to be more widely publicised. 

 

RESOLVED:       That the appointment or re-appointment of Local

Authority Governors, as proposed in Annexes 1 and 2 of the report, be approved.
