Purpose of Report: The report will set out the draft York Economic Strategy 2022-2030, building on the agreed themes of:
• A greener economy
• A global city
• Creating the right conditions for sustainable growth
• A thriving local workforce
• An inclusive economy powered by good business

It will also propose arrangements for a new York Economic Partnership, including draft terms of reference.

The Executive Member will be asked to approve the draft Economic Strategy and proposals for establishing the Economic Partnership, so that they can be the subject of public consultation and Council Scrutiny prior to submission of the final strategy to Executive in the autumn.

Resolved:

                i)         That the draft Economic Strategy be approved.

              ii)         That the next phase of consultation for the Strategy be initiated.

             iii)        That the draft terms of reference for the Economic Partnership be approved.

Reasons:

i)     To support the content and purpose of the next Economic Strategy for York.

ii)    To agree that all key required elements of the Strategy are present.

iii)  To allow for preparation of a complete Strategy for final approval Executive in October 2022.
