Purpose:

Purpose of Report: To set out a plan of work bringing together city centre agencies around the Purple Flag agenda, with the intention of supporting the evening and night time economy and supporting events to engage with the Multi Agency Safety Advisory Group.

The Executive Member will be asked to note the recent budget allocation and confirm the Council’s support to progress a multi agency approach to the evening and night time economy around the Purple Flag agenda.

Decision:

Resolved: That;

 

(i)           The proposed approach to coordination of city centre working through the Purple Flag model be endorsed.

 

(ii)         The creation of a new post in the Economic Growth Team to act as Purple Flag and SAG Coordinator be approved.

 

Reason:     To support growth in the city centre economy and to help ensure that the large number of events which take place in the city do so safely.
