Purpose:

Purpose of Report: To review progress with regard to the York Economic Strategy 2016-20, identifying priorities for short term activity and business friendly initiatives, and setting out a timescale for developing a refreshed strategy. The report will also propose an event as part of York Business Week which will bring together stakeholders to look at growth in York, the current economic strategy, and priorities in the short, medium and longer terms.

The Executive Member is asked to note progress; approve a programme of activity for the current year; approve the delivery of an event in Business Week; and approve an outline process for developing a refreshed strategy.

Decision due date for Executive Member for Economic Development and Community Engagement changed from 03/07/2018 to 23/07/2018.  Reason: To enable more detailed consultation on the strategy review process.

 

Decision:

Resolved: That the proposed process for reviewing and refreshing the Economic Strategy as set out in the report be agreed.

 

Reason:     To ensure that the City’s economic strategy reflects the

current policy environment and that we can fully contribute to the development of Local Industrial Strategies by our LEPs.
