Purpose of Report: This report will provide an update in relation to the council’s work with York’s local armed forces through the Community Covenant.

The Executive Member will be asked to:
• Reaffirm the councils commitment to supporting the Community Covenant
• Agree the council’s lead officer who will be responsible and oversee the councils commitment to the covenant work
• Recognise and sign off York’s Community Covenant action plan - endorsed and developed in conjunction with the York Community Covenant Task Group

Resolved:  (i)      That the re-signing of the York Community

Covenant be agreed as part of events surrounding Armed Forces Day.

                   (ii)      That the Executive Member for Economic

Development and Community Engagement, and the Assistant Director (Communities, Culture and Public Realm) be the Council’s Executive Member and lead officer responsible for, and will oversee, the Council’s commitment to the covenant work.

(iii)     That York’s Community Covenant Action Plan [Annex 2 of the report] be approved and would be managed by a new York Armed Forces Forum.

Reason:              To reconfirm City of York Council’s commitment to the York Community Covenant.
