Purpose:
Purpose of report: The report will advise
Members of the receipt of a petition requesting action to deter
through traffic from Newlands Drive after traffic signals are
introduced at the Boroughbridge Road/Beckfield Lane.
The report will set out Officers thoughts on the issues raised by
the petition, and will recommend a way forward.
Members are asked to: note the petition and consider an Officer
recommendation on how to respond to it.

Advice of the Advisory Panel
That the Advisory Panel advise the Executive Member for City Strategy to:
(i) Note the content of the petition, and that officers are arranging for “before and after” surveys to be carried out to assess changes in traffic levels on Newlands Drive as a result of traffic signals being introduced at the Boroughbridge Road/Beckfield Lane/Low Poppleton Lane junction.

Decision of the Executive Member for City Strategy
RESOLVED:That the advice of the Advisory Panel be accepted and endorsed.
REASON: (i) To enable the impact of the new traffic signals on local traffic patterns to be properly assessed.
(ii) To inform them of the panel’s decision.
That the Advisory Panel advise the Executive Member for City Strategy to:
i. Note the content of the petition, and that officers are arranging for “before and after” surveys to be carried out to assess changes in traffic levels on Newlands Drive as a result of traffic signals being introduced at the Boroughbridge Road/Beckfield Lane/Low Poppleton Lane junction.
ii. Reply to the lead petitioner;
