Strategic Flood Risk Assessment Update
Decision Maker: Executive
Decision status: Decision Made
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: Yes
Purpose:
Purpose of Report: The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA)
assesses the different levels of flood risk in the York Unitary
Authority area and maps these to assist with statutory land use
planning. This report will present an updated Strategic Flood Risk
Assessment as an update to the Council’s evidence base. The
updated SFRA report is an evolution of the existing document to
reflect the latest flood risk mapping from the Environment
Agency.
The Executive will be asked to agree to accept the updated SFRA as
evidence to support decision-making and the emerging Local Plan.
Members will also be asked to agree this evidence base can form
part of the forthcoming evidence base consultation pertaining to
the Local Plan.
Decision:
Resolved: (i) That the updated SFRA be accepted as an evidence base to support decision-making and the emerging Local Plan policy.
(ii) That approval be given to submit the SFRA for consideration as part of the ongoing Local Plan Examination and for consultation purposes.
Reason: To ensure that there is an up to date evidence base to support flood risk policy and decision-making in relation to flood risk.
