Purpose:

Purpose of Report: The national dementia strategy sets out key objectives which when implemented, should result in a significant improvement in the quality of services and promote a greater understanding of the causes and consequences of dementia. This paper introduces the joint strategy developed by NHS North Yorkshire and York and a local action plan to deliver the priorities for York in respect of the strategy.
The Cabinet Member is asked to approve the Joint North Yorkshire and York Dementia Strategy, and an Action Plan for Adult Social Care. Sign up to the Dementia Declaration.

Decision:

 

RESOLVED:

(a)  That the North Yorkshire and York Dementia Strategy be approved.

(b)  That the report of the York Dementia Working Group be noted.

(c)  That officers sign up to the Dementia Declaration.

(d)  That the action plan proposed in Annex D of the report be agreed.

(e)  That an update be received on the Dementia Without Walls project and that officers from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation be invited to attend the meeting.

 

 

Reason:         To improve the quality of life for those living with dementia.
