Purpose:

Purpose of Report: To acknowledge receipt of a petition for formal pedestrian crossing facilities to be provided on York Road, Haxby and to seek Executive Member approval to undertake the relevant surveys and investigations to assess the suitability of the suggested section of road for formal crossing facilities.

The report will ask the Executive Member to acknowledge receipt of the petition and to instruct officers to investigate whether formal pedestrian crossing facilities are appropriate on York Road and to determine whether crossing improvements can be delivered within current capital programme budgets.

Acknowledge receipt of the petition and give approval to Officers to investigate whether a crossing is justified on the section of York Road as suggested and, if a crossing is justified, to identify whether there is a suitable location. The outcome of this work will be brought back to the Executive Member for further approvals as appropriate.

Reason:                        To note the wishes of the signatories and to undertake the necessary investigative work to determine whether a formal crossing is justifiable and feasible.
