Decision Maker: Decision Session - Executive Member for Transport, Executive Member for Transport and Planning

Decision status: Decision Made

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Purpose of Report: This report is in response to a petition from residents of South Bank Avenue requesting that traffic calming measures be implemented on their road, as they consider that the existing 20mph speed limit here is regularly broken.

The Cabinet Member is asked to note the petition, but also note that recent speed measurements taken on this road show that traffic speeds are within an acceptable compliance level. The Cabinet Member is asked to consider and agree officer recommendations.

This decision will be taken by the Cabinet Member at a public Decision Session on 11 December 2014.

Decision:

Resolved:           That the Cabinet Member:

(i)           Acknowledged the residents’ concerns about the speed of traffic.

(ii)          Advised Officers to work with petitioners to help take their concerns through the established speed management process. This evidence based approach will enable the assessment of appropriate options in response to speed concerns on this road.

Reason:     To address residents concerns.
