York800: Review and Legacy Plans

Decision Maker: Decision Session - Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Communities

Decision status: Decision Made

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Purpose of Report: To update the Cabinet Member on events held during 2012 and to plan the legacy.

The Cabinet Member is asked to agree a legacy strategy for both participation in active leisure and for events in the city.

This report was slipped from the December to January meeting of Cabinet as the directorate had a large number of other reports being presented to the December meeting. It was then deferred until February 2013 to allow more time for consulting with partners.

The report will now be considered by the Cabinet Member as it is thought more appropriate for a member decision. It will be considered at a public decision session to be held on Wednesday 27th February.

This item will be split and a separate issue called York Gold 2012 Review and Legacy will also be considered at the meeting.

Decision:

RESOLVED:       That the report be noted and the Cabinet Member’s comments on the effectiveness of the York 800 programme and her support for the principles outlined in taking the legacy forward be recognised.

REASON:            To support the development of a world class cultural offer and build stronger, more participative, communities.
