Purpose:

Purpose of report: Agreement by Members will enable the Council to compily with its obligations to give the correct notice of intentions to work under the Traffic Management Act 2004, and allow early design and start of schemes in the new financial year.

Members are asked to: Note the condition trends in the highway network and approve the indicative 2009/10 highway maintenance reconstruction and re-surfacing programme.

Advice of the Advisory Panel

 

That the Executive Member for City Strategy be advised to:

 

(i)                 Note the results of the June and October 2008 condition surveys on the city's roads and footways;

(ii)               Approve the split in funding between footways and roads on a 50/50 basis.

 (iii)     Approve the provisional programme of work listed in Annexes 3 - 12 of the report. 1.

RESOLVED:       That the advice of the Advisory Panel be accepted and endorsed.

 

REASON:      To ensure the Highway Maintenance budget is expended in the most cost effective way based on the Council's assessed priorities and approved policies.
