Admissions Arrangements for the 2019/20 School Year

Purpose of Report: To seek the Executive’s approval for the City of York Council co-ordinated schemes and admission policies for the 2019/20 school year. It also seeks approval of the proposed individual school published admission numbers (PANs) for the academic year beginning in September 2019. The report follows a period of consultation from October 2017 to December 2017.

The report will ask the Executive to approve the admission arrangements (admissions policies and published admission numbers) for all schools for whom the local authority is the admissions authority, for entry into school in September 2019.

This item was scheduled for decision by the Executive Member for Education, Children and Young People at his decision session on 16 January. At that meeting he decided to refer consideration of this item to Executive, to take place at its meeting on 8 February 2018.

The reason for this is to ensure a decision is made in February,  in order to account for the fact that minor changes to the admission arrangements had been made in recent years and that, therefore he felt it was important that the Executive were made aware of the current policies and the changes proposed for the next admissions round.
