Roadside Timetable design |
TH explained contract is currently up for renewal with Pindar creative, CYC would like to look at ways to improve the current design. Timetables were handed out and improvements were to be noted on these. Scope is limited to size of the current timetable. |
Suggested improvements: · Colour coded for every route. · Make simple and easy to read for user. · Simplify to let people know which direction the bus is going so they know which side of the road to wait on. · Segmented? (Morning, Afternoon and Evening) · Angled text on destination diagrams is very difficult to read for visually-impaired people. · Logical flow of information. · Access Forum to review this timetable. · Off-white is clearer to read for accessibility · Crucial to know exactly what bus is taking you where i.e. 1 & 4 both go into Acomb but via routes with very different journey lengths. · Blue on blue is very difficult to read for direction and locations. · Use colours to distinguish between routes, but ensure colour isn’t the only indicator. |

Good examples of best practice: · Metrobus (Crawley, Brighton & Hove) · Metro/Weaver Network (West Yorkshire) · Bee Network (Greater Manchester) · Action: Please send CYC any more best practice examples |

CYC Project Update |
Rougier Route – · Further consultation has taken place with Bishophill residents, and all feedback has been taken on board which has led to changes being made in that area. · Next steps are taking report to Exec Member and asking for approval to release funding. · This will be taken forward on an experimental 18 month trial basis. · Currently reviewing potential launch dates for this, may be looking at January time so this is not affected by extra Christmas traffic. · Project teams are still reviewing designs on this and work is taking place with Taxis and Blue Badge holders. |
P&R Improvements – · Stage 4 (Final stage) for the civils package (Overnight parking, electric vehicle charging and improved access etc) · Buildings package (Building improvement package & Changing places facilities) · DFT have extended funding until March 2027, schemes are progressing on this timescale. |
Combined Authority funding for bus stop improvements – · Clifton Green Stop and shelter has been improved. · Working through a list for further bus stop improvements (bus shelter, real time, Kassel kerb & access improvements). · LED lighting upgrades are being completed. |

Questions – · What is happening with radial bus priority improvements? TH has confirmed funds have had to be reallocated into Station Gateway to deliver bus turning loop. Fulford Road is still a big opportunity for future funding. · How will the Combined Authority Local Transport Plan work alongside the Movement and Place Plan? TH has confirmed if they are both completely different, this would have to be reviewed but would like to see them both favouring the same things. · When is Lendal Bridge work due to be done? Will this be when Rougier route is due to be brought in? TH has confirmed Lendal Bridge improvements will be after Rougier Route has been brought in so Rougier Route will have to be paused whilst work is completed. · What information do you have on taxi and blue badge exemptions? TH has confirmed CYC are currently just refining costs for administrating this and exemption lists etc. · When can an answer be expected on the study that was commissioned on the Dial and Ride replacement? TH has confirmed this will be end of summer and then a follow up chat will be arranged, Age Friendly York have been involved in discussions. · Is the bus loop still in scope? TH confirmed reprofiling of the funding was key on this, working on land acquisition is critical. |
