Additional documents:

Decision:

Reason:

                      i.         Agreed to the intorduction of a 20mph speed limit be introduced as advertised.

Reason:     Because this will achieve a reduction in signs and poles on street in Osbaldwick village and a reduction in the future ongoing maintenance costs.

Minutes:

Officers introduced the report and noted that one objections had been received in relation to introduction of a 20mph speed limit, having taken this into account officers were recommending that the 20mph speed limit be introduced as advertised. The Executive Member noted the objection and highlighted that average speeds in the area were already close to 20mph and the introduction would reduce the number of signs required in the area that currently identify changes between 20 and 30mph.

A concern raised by a Ward Councillor regarding an incident at a junction within the scheme was noted and it was confirmed that officers could explore whether a give way sign could be installed to improve safety at the junction.

Resolved:

                      i.         Agreed to the introduction of a 20mph speed limit be introduced as advertised.

ii.         Provide an update to Ward Councillors on the possibility of a give way sign.

Reason:     Because this will achieve a reduction in signs and poles on street in Osbaldwick village and a reduction in the future ongoing maintenance costs.
