The Director of Customer and Communities
approves the reduction in the number of food and fuel vouchers
provided to one of each per qualifying family from 1st April 2024
to help sustain the scheme until March 2025.

Options Considered:
The council could choose not to make this
decision, but this would result in exhausting the vouchers before
the end of the 2024/25 financial year.
Options Rejected:
The options to maintain the scheme as is was
rejected. The vouchers are intended to support families to engage
in broader financial support that can be provided and to undertake
benefit reviews. There are further support mechanisms in the city
including food banks that qualifying residents can access. The
scheme was never intended as a substitute for food banks.
