Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Transport, Planning and Sustainability

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Purpose of the report is to outline proposals to introduce an advisory contra-flow cycle lane on the section of Tanner Row between George Hudson Street/Rougier Street and Wellington Rowe/North Street which would allow cyclists to travel against the exiting one way flow of traffic and Cabinet Members will be asked to give in principle approval for the proposed measures and to advertise the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for an exemption to be provided for cyclists to use the proposed contra-flow cycle lane.

Cabinet Member will be asked to give in principle approval for the proposed measure and to advertise the TRO for an exemption for cyclists to enter Tanner Row and use the contra-flow cycle lane.

1)   Approve in principle the contra-flow cycle lane scheme on Tanner Row as shown in Annex B.

2)   Authorise the necessary Traffic Regulation Order to be advertised, along with a wider public consultation covering local residents, businesses and road user organisations.
