Your chance to hear the latest about the plans for the new Park & Ride site. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions to officers working on the project.

Extra Agenda Item added – York Fire Service Review
John gave a brief update on the review of all the fire stations in York and in particular the main issues. · The Fire Service are seeking the views of residents & businesses. · Proposals are to be made regarding the relocation of fire stations within the city and the residents of York will be asked for their opinions about these proposals. · There will be consultation papers all over the city in the next few weeks.
PCSO Richard Dalby gave a brief ward update; · Between the 13th & 16th October it will be ‘Not in your Neighbourhood Week’. This is week of visible joined up working alongside various other agencies and a the Policing Team visiting more people during the week. This will include coffee mornings at sheltered housing and crime prevention surveys etc. · There will also be street signs going up where there is Neighbourhood Watch.
Questions raised by residents were; · Anything planned for the Middlethorpe Grove area? o There will be visits to the businesses and possibly the Police van giving crime prevention advice.
4. Askham Bar Park & Ride New Site Paul Thackray, Damon Copperthwaite & Tony Clarke were present to explain about the proposed plans. Paul gave a brief outline of the site (known as Sim Hills); · The Access York Phase 1 development includes 3 new Park & Ride sites. · The land for the new one to replace Askham Bar was formerly a waste disposal site. · The present Site holds 550 cars and the new site will hold 1250 cars. · We will also be looking at the pedestrian and cycle facilities for the site. · As the site is on a hill then we will be looking very carefully at drainage and landscaping. · Aiming to obtain gold standard car parking security. · The main reception building will hopefully be a landmark building. · The next step is to start formal consultation at the end of November. · It should not affect the existing traffic as most of the work is of the highway. Residents raised the following; · What is the timeframe? o Hopefully the construction would start early in 2010 and would take 12 months · Was this a council tip? o Yes it is a former landfill site and gas monitoring is taking place. · Will this become an overflow car park for the college? o No as it will be a token system to park and the token has to be validated on the bus. · Any thoughts to what will happen to the existing car park? o No decision has been made on this yet. · Will the frequency of the bus service increase if more people are using the car park? o Yes we are hoping that this will increase to 6 or 7 on the route at one time. · At the moment people walk and cycle to use the Park & Ride, will this still be possible? o This is ... view the full minutes text for item 2. |
