The drop in surgery gives you the chance to
meet and speak with your ward councillors, street environment
officer, safer neighbourhood policing team, neighbourhood
management officer and visiting speakers informally.

Welcome to all and the minutes of the last
meeting will be agreed and any maters arising from the minutes
discussed.

Cllr Roger Pierce welcomed residents to the
meeting.
The minutes of the last Ward Committee were
agreed and signed.

Safer Neighbourhood policing team
There will be an update from the ward police
team and residents have an opportunity to raise any concerns
Minutes:
PC Barrow gave an update of activities in the
ward.
- The police have been working closely
with Housing and the schools on various initiatives.
- In August the police have organised
3 weeks worth of activities at the schools. The events range from football to dance and are
for all children age from 5 to 12 years.
- There are summer police surgeries
organised where residents can bring along their bicycle and get it
security marked.
- There has been an increase in
flytipping and dumping from student properties which the police are
working alongside Housing to try and control and educate
residents.

A day in the life of an estate manager
One of the Housing estate managers will
describe their role and some of the challenges and rewards
involved.

Paul Morrison the Housing Tenancy Manager gave
a brief quiz with residents on Housing statistics and the role of
the Estate Manager.

- How many properties are left by
tenants each year? 650
- How many cases were evicted for
nuisance in the last 12 months?

available to the council? CRASBO, Dispersal
Order, Demotion, Crack House Closure,

- How much does Tang Hall get to spend
on Estate Improvement Grant each year?

Questions and issues raised by residents
were;
- EIG schemes in the past have been
car parking and play equipment which have been great for the
area.
- How do you complain about a tenant?
You can ring the switchboard or the Estate Manager or report it
to the police.
- How does the Council waiting list
work? When you are top of the list
CYC will arrange to view a property with you.
- What consent do tenants need for
improvements? Introductory tenants
cannot make any improvements but any structural changes must be
receive permission.
- When will Choice based lettings
start? It is due to start in
November.
- How many are on the council housing
waiting list? Approx 3000

Playbuilder for Hull Road ward
Beth Cooper, Playbuilder Project Officer will
provide an update on the proposals for new play equipment in the
ward
Minutes:
Beth Cooper the playbuilder project manager
gave a brief update on the project in this ward;
- The Playbuilder project is York wide
to deliver 22 play areas across the city over 2 years.
- The first 11 have been completed and
5 of these were delivered by the parish Councils.
- The allocation of money for Hull
Road was originally going to be at Badger Hill, but this has now
changed and it will be situated in Hull Road park.
- The design is to extend the play
area that is already there. As there is
no need to request planning permission then there is no statutary
obligation to consult locally.
Residents raised the following;
- Who will decide on the final
design? Local people will make the
decision based on certain criteria.

Minutes:
Residents raised the following under
‘Have Your Say’;
- What are the recycling changes in
Burlington Avenue and when will this be? The NMU will find out the information for the
resident and contact them.
- Can we clarify who will be
responding to the Hull Road planning panel queries as the member of
staff who looked after the ward previously has now
left.? The NMU will confirm who this
will be.
- Please can we change the ward
newsletter as it is not very exciting to read.
