Ward update Minutes: Councillor David Carr gave an update on recently funded projects. · A grant of £1000 to the Parish Council towards WW1 end commemoration. The grant will pay for the beacon equipment, installation, event advertising and refreshments. · A grant of £500 to the Tennis Club towards purchase towards junior sized racquets and stage 1 coaching qualification for one of the volunteer. · A grant of £500 to the Copmanthorpe Scout Group towards the mural project. The grant will pay for painting materials. Local artists and students will provide their support on a voluntary basis. · A grant of £1,008 to the Copmanthorpe Youth Club towards replacing kitchen units and worktops project. · A grant of £200 to the Copmanthorpe Good Companions towards board games and equipment to be used by the group in its sessions. · A grant of £4,000 to the Copmanthorpe Recreation Centre towards the accessible play equipment for children with special needs or disabilities. Total project cost is £18,000 and the group has already received £10,000 from the Postcode Lottery. · A grant of £200 to the Panda Playgroup towards purchase and installation of a nappy changing table at Howell Hall.
Planned improvements with funding already set aside for. · Resurfacing of the Merchant Way/Flaxman Court junction - scheduled for implementation in April/May 2018. · Additional parking space on Horseman Close. – project cost is yet to be obtained. Cost to be covered 50-50% from the ward allocation of the Housing Environment Improvement Programme and the ward budget.

Ward budget for year 2018-19 Minutes: Ward revenue budget allocation for 2018-19 is £8,880. Budget can be allocated to projects which help address ward priorities:
· supporting older people · supporting activities for young people · community safety projects
Community groups and voluntary organisations are now invited to apply for ward funding. Full applications should be received no later than Thursday 31 May 2018. Grant applications will be considered weighing up how each project addresses the above priorities and applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in June 2018.
The ward also has an allocation of capital budget that can be utilised for improvements to the local highways infrastructure. The amount for year 2018 to 2019 is £5,218
Applications already received by the ward and pending consideration are: · Grant application from Copmanthorpe Contact The Elderly for £136 towards an afternoon tea party for its members at Harlow Carr gardens in July. A typical guest is Copmanthorpe resident in their mid-eighties, living alone with health conditions and unable to get out and socialise. · Grant application from the Copmanthorpe Scout Group for £9000 towards purchase of Ford Transit minibus for the group. (Total project cost is £20,000).
