Purpose:

Purpose of Report: The report will provide information about the number, type and outcome of complaints received into the department under the Social Care Complaints Procedure, as well as informing on enquires from MPs and the Local Government Ombudsman and on compliments and commendations received in the social care services. Identifying lessons learnt from the complaints received. The report is for information and will not contain recommendations or actions.
The Cabinet Member is asked to note the content of the report.

Decision:

RESOLVED:       That the Cabinet Members for Education, Children and Young People & Health, Housing and Adult Social Services:

·        accepted the contents of the report and reflected on the nature of concerns, pattern of complaints, response times, and financial recompense provided by the council, across both adults and children’s services

·        recommended that for future years, a council complaints report be produced with the social care complaints report being an annex of that report

 

REASON:  To comply with the council’s responsibilities to provide a publicly available report on complaints relating to its social care services.
