This report outlines to the Cabinet Member the proposal for an annual Crime Summit, and sets out the proposed format for the event.
Decision:
RESOLVED: (i) That the report be noted.
(ii) That Option A, as set out in Paragraph 5 of the report be approved.
REASON: To enable the event to take place as planned on 25th April involving a wide audience and participation.

The Cabinet Member received a report which outlined the proposal for an annual Crime Summit, and sets out the proposed format for the event.
Following a question from the Cabinet Member regarding involvement in the event from the business community, it was noted that a number of business organisations could not attend the event, however work was still ongoing to ensure engagement with the business community.
It was noted that overall, business crime in York was low, and the majority was focused around shoplifting in the retail sector. The organisation Retailers Against Crime in York (RACY), were actively engaged with local retailers, as were the local retailers themselves, to overcome this.
