There is a statutory duty to monitor the Council’s development plan and to publish an annual monitoring report on at least a yearly basis. We monitor development plans to:
• track changes and trends which may develop over time
• check whether policies and plans are effective and achieving their aims
• understand wider social, environmental and economic issues affecting the key drivers of spatial change
These statistics also inform the council’s corporate performance targets and government returns.

As part of this duty, the Strategic Planning Policy team monitor and publish annual monitoring reports on housing statistics.

This report presents information for the annual monitoring year 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
